N-ROL is a telerehabilitation initiative funded by an ongoing campaign run by Emilia Clarke’s SameYou charity. People with stroke and other brain injuries are spending less time in hospital receiving neurorehabilitation as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. In March 2020, with the aid of SameYou fundraising, we put together a team of people who wanted to find a way of helping our local community rehabilitation teams by offering additional online group based neurorehabilitation to people in their own homes during the lockdown period. The core group included Professor Nick Ward, Professor Alex Leff, Dr Catherine Doogan, Ben Beare and Pedro Douglass-Kirk, with additional contributions from volunteers Sasha Davies and Joe Ward, as well as help from many of the rehabilitation therapists working at Queen Square.
