WCHN Public Engagement Innovation Fund – Kate Ledingham

Kate is gaining the views of stroke survivors on a questionnaire used in the PLORAS group’s research, in order to optimise its administration both in person and online via our website. The measure asks people to self-report their language abilities at different time-points post-stroke.  Only participants are able to tell the group how they perceive their language now in comparison with their pre-stroke abilities, and PLORAS will use this information in conjunction with neuroimaging and standardised language assessments to develop predictions of language recovery post-stroke. The PE Grant Scheme is enabling Kate to run discussion groups with stroke survivors to gain their perspectives on the measure, to improve its accessibility, ease of use and acceptability to people with and without aphasia.
